If you made the consular interview appointment online, you do not need to cancel your appointment. However, you should complete a new DS-160 online form and provide your new correct passport details.
On the day of your visa interview at the US consulate, you must have the barcode sheet of the new DS-160 online application with you.
During the consular interview at the counter, you should inform the US consular officer that your passport number has changed.
